Ingredients
- For the patties:
- 1 lb ground beef
- About 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
- About 1 tbsp ketchup
- About 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Black pepper
- Salt
- 1 egg
- Small dash of mustard
- For the gravy:
- 1 whole onion, sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- Flour, enough to help thicken
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- Garlic powder
- Extra flour or cornstarch, if needed to thicken
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, egg, and a tiny dash of mustard.
- Form the mixture into 4 patties.
- Heat a pan on the stove and brown the patties for about 3–4 minutes per side. They do not need to cook all the way through yet.
- Remove the patties from the pan and set aside.
- Remove most of the grease, but keep the browned bits in the pan.
- Add sliced onion, butter, and flour. Cook for about 3–4 minutes.
- Add beef broth, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Stir everything together.
- Let the gravy cook for a couple minutes.
- Add the patties back into the pan, cover, and cook for 10–12 minutes.
- If the gravy needs to be thicker, remove the patties and add a little more flour or cornstarch. Stir and cook until it becomes a nice gravy.
- Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans.
