- For the Cake
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1 cup water
- 3 eggs
- 1/4 cup oil
- Peanut oil or cooking spray, for greasing the pans
- For the Frosting
- 1 jar cream cheese frosting
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- For the Filling and Topping
- Mixed berry jam or syrup
- Walnuts, chopped or crushed
Instructions
- Prepare the yellow cake mix according to the box using water, eggs, and oil.
- Grease two small baking pans with peanut oil or cooking spray.
- Divide the cake batter evenly between the pans.
- Bake or air fry until the cakes are fully cooked.
- Let the cakes cool.
- If desired, use a bowl as a guide to cut each cake into a circle.
- Trim one cake layer if needed so the layers stack evenly.
- Place the first cake layer on a plate or serving surface.
- Poke holes into the cake.
- Spoon mixed berry syrup over the cake, making sure some of it gets into the holes.
- In a bowl, mix the cream cheese frosting with softened cream cheese until smooth.
- Sprinkle walnuts over the syrup layer.
- Spread a layer of frosting over the walnuts.
- Add the second cake layer on top.
- Frost the top and sides with the remaining frosting.
- Pour more mixed berry syrup over the top so it drips down the sides.
- Crush more walnuts and sprinkle them over the top.
- Slice and serve.
